A belt conveyor is a piece of equipment that utilizes a conveyor belt as both the load-bearing and traction component, achieving the continuous transport of materials through friction-based drive mechanisms. It is the most widely used and versatile equipment for conveying bulk materials and unit loads, playing an indispensable role in material handling across industries such as mining, metallurgy, coal, construction materials, chemicals, ports, food processing, and electronics.
In simple terms, a belt conveyor consists of a continuously circulating belt that carries materials from one end to the other. Its widespread adoption stems from three key factors: a simple structure, ease of maintenance, and low operating costs.
The working principle of a belt conveyor is straightforward. A motor drives the drive pulley to rotate via a speed reducer, and the friction between the pulley and the conveyor belt propels the belt in a continuous loop. Materials placed on the belt move along with it, traveling from the loading end to the discharge end to complete the transport process. The return section of the belt is supported by idlers, while a tensioning device ensures sufficient belt tension to prevent slippage.
Belt conveyors are utilized across the vast majority of industries requiring material handling and transport.
Organic and compound fertilizer plants: transporting cattle manure, chicken manure, fermentation raw materials, and finished granular fertilizers; conveying raw materials in conjunction with disc granulators;
Mining and aggregate industries: long-distance transport of sand, gravel, crushed stone, and slag;
Construction material and cement plants: transporting cement, clay, and fly ash;
Grain storage industry: loading, unloading, and conveying wheat, corn, and other grains;
Municipal solid waste and construction waste recycling and processing plants;
Various processing plants in sectors such as food, chemicals, and coal.
With over two decades of expertise in manufacturing equipment for fertilizer transport and mining material handling, Huaqiang Heavy Industry offers customized belt conveyors—including mobile, high-inclination, and sealed dust-proof models—tailored to the specific operating conditions of your production line. The equipment features a reinforced welded frame and wear-resistant rubber belts, with every unit undergoing no-load test runs prior to shipment.
We collaborate with clients to plan conveyor routes as part of their overall processing line setup and dispatch technicians to the site for installation and commissioning after delivery. We also provide long-term support for spare parts, along with equipment maintenance manuals and troubleshooting guides. If you are currently planning a production line, please contact us for a comprehensive solution integrating crushing, conveying, and granulation systems.
