



The large angle belt conveyor is a type of continuous conveying equipment that utilizes a conveyor belt featuring corrugated sidewalls and transverse cleats. Its most significant breakthrough compared to conventional belt conveyors is that it overcomes the standard inclination limit of 28°, enabling conveying angles of up to 90° and facilitating the near-vertical lifting of materials. Currently, this equipment plays an indispensable role in the transport of bulk materials across industries such as mining, metallurgy, power generation, coal, chemicals, and port operations.
The working principle of a large angle belt conveyor is based on two primary mechanisms: friction-based drive and load-carrying via “box-like compartments.”
Closed-loop circuit: The conveyor belt forms an endless loop, wrapping around the drive pulley and bend pulley at either end of the frame. Tension is maintained by a device at the tail end, and the belt is supported along its length by idlers, creating a closed-loop system.
Power transmission: When the drive unit rotates the drive pulley, the friction between the pulley and the belt propels the belt along its intended path.
Material transport: Material is fed onto the belt via a loading chute; “box-like pockets”—formed by corrugated sidewalls and transverse cleats—securely cradle the material. As the belt moves, the material is conveyed to the discharge unit at the head end, where it is unloaded through the discharge chute under the influence of centrifugal force and gravity.
Transition section design: The equipment utilizes a “Z-shaped” configuration, employing components such as a tail-end belt hold-down device and bend pulleys to ensure a smooth transition of the material from the horizontal section to the inclined section.

Thanks to the corrugated sidewalls on the conveyor belt, the effective loading cross-section is increased, resulting in a conveying capacity 1.5 to 2 times greater than that of standard conveyors.
They avoid issues common to en-masse (drag chain) conveyors—such as chain jamming, drifting, or breakage—as well as problems frequently encountered with bucket elevators, such as belt slippage or bucket detachment.
Key components are identical to those used in standard belt conveyors, greatly simplifying operation and maintenance.
Horizontal conveying sections of any desired length can be configured at both the head and tail ends, facilitating seamless integration with other equipment.
