Key Strategies for Improving Composting Efficiency in Organic Fertilizer Production Lines

2025/08/07

In organic fertilizer production lines, the efficiency of the composting process directly determines overall production capacity and product quality. By scientifically controlling composting conditions and optimizing process parameters, the composting cycle can be significantly shortened, improving production efficiency.

Precisely controlling the raw material ratio is the foundation of efficient composting. The carbon-to-nitrogen ratio must be kept within an appropriate range. If livestock and poultry manure is the primary raw material, carbon sources such as straw and sawdust should be added to adjust the ratio. Furthermore, the moisture content of the raw materials should be maintained at an appropriate level. A visual criterion for determining moisture content is "clumping in the hand and falling apart upon contact." Excessive moisture content can easily lead to anaerobic fermentation, while excessive moisture content can inhibit microbial activity.
Optimizing environmental parameters can accelerate the composting process. The compost temperature must be maintained at an optimal high temperature, which rapidly kills pathogens and weed seeds while promoting the activity of cellulolytic bacteria. Temperature sensors should be installed for real-time monitoring. When the temperature falls below the optimal level, the compost should be turned and aerated promptly. When the temperature rises above the optimal level, the compost should be broken up and cooled to prevent the inactivation of beneficial bacteria. Furthermore, the pH value of the pile should be controlled within an appropriate range. If it's too acidic, lime can be added; if it's too alkaline, straw should be added as a buffer.
Scientific compost turning is key to improving efficiency. When using a single compost turning machine, ensure that the turning depth reaches the bottom of the pile to ensure thorough mixing of the materials, and turn the pile regularly. For windrow composting, the speed of a windrow compost turning machine should be appropriately controlled to ensure material fluffiness. Turning frequency should be adjusted over the composting period. Early on, frequent turning can be used to quickly raise the temperature, while maintaining a constant frequency in the middle stages to maintain high temperatures. Later on, the intervals can be extended to promote nutrient conversion.
Additional composting agents can effectively shorten the composting cycle. Choose a combination of Bacillus subtilis and actinomycetes, evenly blending them into the raw materials in the appropriate proportions. Through systematic management and control, the traditional composting cycle can be significantly shortened, while simultaneously increasing the organic matter content of the fertilizer and significantly improving production line efficiency.
